How it works

Last updated: 14 October 2026

Raising something

Anyone can read everything. To raise an issue, idea, question, debate, impact story or ground report, sign in with your mobile number (a one-time code) or Google, and complete a short profile. You can post under your username or as an Anonymous citizen. Anonymous posts still show your area and verification level. The site admin can see which account posted, because the law requires us to be able to act on complaints.

Before anything is published

Every post is checked by our Safeguard system. An instant word and pattern check runs first, followed by an AI review (Claude, by Anthropic) when it is enabled. Possible outcomes:

  • Published: most posts.
  • Please rephrase: abusive words were found. We suggest a civil version with the same meaning. You choose whether to use it; we never change your words without your action.
  • Sent for review: a human moderator checks it first, for example when it names a public official, may inflame tensions, or comes from a brand-new account while the automatic check is down.
  • Can't be posted: threats, hate against a group, personal details such as phone numbers or ID numbers, or spam.

Voting and results

One vote per account per topic or poll. You can change or remove your vote. You can also say whether you are directly affected. Results can be split by: everyone; verified (phone-verified or ID-checked) accounts; people directly affected; and Indians in India, Indians abroad, OCI/PIO and foreign nationals. Identity badges are self-declared and are not legal proof of citizenship.

Honest numbers: people choose to take part, so results show what participants think, not all Indians. Every result shows how many people voted.

Verification levels

  • Unverified (L0): signed in with Google only. Votes count in "Everyone" but not "Verified".
  • Phone verified (L1): confirmed with a one-time code. Your number is never shown.
  • ID checked (L2): optional DigiLocker check (coming later). We will never store your Aadhaar number or document images.

Ranking

For now, "Most supported" ranks topics by verified support, then all support, then recent activity. A fuller India Priority Indexis coming, which will add breadth across states, "which matters more?" comparisons, support across different groups, evidence, and protection against coordinated campaigns. Its formula will be published on this page.

Labels

Topics can carry labels such as "Not verified", "Contains allegation", "Sensitive topic" or "Merged". Labels like "Evidence reviewed" or "Possible coordinated campaign" can only be applied by a human admin, with a public reason. Anyone can dispute a label, and the outcome is recorded in the topic's label history.

Duplicates

While you type a title, we show similar topics. Supporting an existing topic makes it stronger. When duplicates are merged, everyone who raised them is credited as a co-author and votes are counted once per person.

Raising it officially

This platform does not file complaints for you. Issue pages link to the government's official grievance portal (CPGRAMS) so you can do both.
