Moderation policy
Last updated: 14 October 2026
Draft: to be reviewed by an Indian technology lawyer before launch.
We moderate to keep debate open and safe, not to favour any side. Criticism of any government, party, policy or official is allowed. Content is removed when it breaks our Community guidelines or Indian law.
Legal context (India)
- As an intermediary under Section 79 of the IT Act, 2000, we follow the due-diligence rules in the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, as amended in 2026.
- We remove content that is unlawful, for example content promoting enmity between groups (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita s.196), defamation (s.356), threats, non-consensual intimate images, and impersonation.
- We act on court orders and lawful government notices within the legally required time.
How decisions are made
- Automatic check before publishing (Safeguard): an instant word and pattern check, then an AI review when enabled. The AI follows written rules that explicitly protect political criticism of every side.
- Human review for anything held: allegations naming officials, possibly inflammatory content, posts from brand-new accounts while the automatic check is down, and every report from users.
- Public reasons: removed posts are replaced by a notice with the reason. Edits by the admin show "Edited by admin" and the reason.
- Labels: only an admin can apply judgement labels such as "Evidence reviewed" or "Possible coordinated campaign", always with a public reason. Anyone can dispute a label.
We never
- Silently change someone's words.
- Rank by outrage.
- Remove content because it criticises a government, party or official.

Transparency
We publish monthly numbers on removals, their reasons, government and legal requests, and appeals on the Transparency page.
