History

The name means ‘sour and spicy’ in Konkani. The curry belongs to the Konkani kitchen of Goa’s coast.

Significance

Ambot tik is one of the few Goan curries made without coconut. Its sharp taste suits fish with firm, strong-flavoured flesh.
