Researchers have found a sharp rise in racist posts targeting Indians and other South Asians online, especially on X.
What the research says
- The Center for the Study of Organized Hate (CSOH) counted about 542,000 anti-South Asian hate posts on X over 18 months to June 2026; monthly volume rose from about 12,900 posts (January 2024) to about 43,800 (June 2026). Many cast South Asians as "invaders" or job thieves.
- The Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI) found anti-Indian content on X tripled in weekly volume in 2025, with posts drawing over 300 million views.
