Indian students, workers and families abroad report racist abuse and, at times, physical attacks.
What has happened
- In July–August 2025 several Indians were assaulted in Ireland, including a man beaten in Tallaght, Dublin, in what locals called racist violence. The Embassy of India in Dublin issued an advisory asking Indians to take precautions and gave an emergency helpline.
- In October 2026 police in Illinois, USA, arrested a 19-year-old over an alleged plot to shoot at a Hindu place of worship; reports say a manifesto referring to violence against people of Indian descent was found (see the linked instance).
Questions to discuss
- What more should Indian embassies do: helplines, legal help, tracking cases?
- How should India raise these cases with other governments?
- What can the Indian community abroad do to stay safe and report incidents?
